Why get a yearly inspection?

Protect your family!

Looking down into the chimney.   Several of the top terracotta flue tile sections of this furnace flue are gone.  The lower remaining flue tile sections are crumbling, broken and pitted.  Oil fumes are able to leach through the old porous mortar joints into the home, a health concern. {Natick}

Looking down into chimney.  The top flue tile section of the fireplace flue has a large hole. Through the hole, the mortar joint you see at the top is the furnace flue.  The black is soot and creosote, the grey-lighter areas are pitting and cracks which extend down the fireplace flue.
This fireplace flue is a hazardous situation! {Westboro}

Creosote covered liner cap.

Liner with creosote build-up

This is a stainless woodstove liner cap.  Ashes Away installed this stainless liner into the woodstove flue, in 2007.  The black tar-like substance stuck to the cap and dripping is creosote!   This happened in a lined woodstove flue in "ONE" burning season.  What causes this is un-seasoned wood, wet wood, burning scrap wood/trash and low heat fires!  {Hopkinton}

Woodstove liner cap removed and looking down into the lined woodstove flue.  The creosote build-up [thick black tar-like goo within silver liner] runs the full 25 feet of the liner.   Please inspect your flues annually!  This is a chimney fire waiting to happen!
BURN PROPERLY SEASONED WOOD!
BURN YOUR STOVES AT THEIR OPTIMUM TEMPERATURE!

New Pitched Chase Cover

Large Chimney with Leak Issue

Replacement chase cover, with proper flue neck/flange.  Top has pitched sides so water flows off top and does not pool.  Remember chase chimney's are generally wood construction.  Wet wood inside a leaking chase can lead to many more issues, such as odor, mold, mildew, rot, insect infestation!  Make sure your chase top is not failing!

Customer called stating chimney had long term leaking issues, no other companies had yet solved.  Notice all the tar-like substance on the flashing.  Columns had been tuckpointed.  Notice dip where bluestone sections meet.  {Dover}

Large Chimney Leak Solved

Hampton Brown Enamel

Flashing on all 4-sides was replaced.  Chimney's masonry cap [bluestone and columns] was removed.  Crown was repaired, chimney waterproofed with ChimneySaver.  A full coverage stainless steel chimney cap with the flue extending beyond cap was installed.  After the first substantial rainstorm customer called to thank us and report absolutely no leaking.

The Elegant Hampton Timberline Brown Enamel is beautifully complimented with the rich caramel and brown veined marble hearth and surround.  A wonderful eye-catching asset to any home. {Ashland}

Beautiful See-Thru Fireplace

Wonderful way to offset heating costs.  A lovely addition to any room! {Holliston}

At the left side you can see a wood pillar, that is where the house originally ended.  The homeowner constructed a new familyroom.  Ashes Away broke through the backside of the existing kitchen fireplace, reworked the flues, built a new hearth with bluestone in the familyroom and installed matching glass doors on either side of the new see-thru fireplace.   An incredible addition to any home! {Hopkinton}

Kitchen side of See-Thru

Winter Warm Large Woodstove

Original kitchen fireplace and hearth  that Ashes Away re-designed as a see-thru fireplace.

This wonderful Vermont Casting woodstove insert complete with cast iron mantle was installed along with a full liner to give maximum protection and heat value. {Littleton}

Stove not to code!

Terracotta Flue Tile

This is an example of an improper woodstove install.  Stovepipe being used is NON-INSULATED pipe.  That pipe is refered to as "Black Pipe" it is single wall pipe, that is used WITHIN THE HOME.   External to the house CODE requires multi-wall insulated pipe be used. The size of the cap is the diameter of stove pipe that should be visable external to the house.  It also appears to be anchored to the houses gutter. another no-no.  This stove probably smokes terribly and cannot be providing the optimum amount of heat.  {Metrowest area}

Tiles [vary in size] similar to this would be stacked to create individual flues for fireplaces and [oil or gas] furnaces.
